- District 7

Denzel is a proven advocate

who will bring fresh leadership and fight for all of us!

Dear Neighbor,

As a native Detroiter and a longtime resident of District 7, I know how proud we are of our neighborhoods and our city. We care deeply about our community and that’s why we need strong leadership on the Detroit City Council to ensure every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

I’ve spent more than a decade working on issues that impact our daily lives– protecting voting rights, fighting for water affordability and equitable transportation, and improving public safety in our community. I have the skills and experience to fight for every resident and family in District 7 and I am committed to serving you.

This campaign is about increasing the  well-being of everyday Detroiters, rooted in transparency, engagement, accountability, and service. This is a grassroots campaign that is centered on our people. I do not accept one cent of corporate PAC money and am accountable only to the people.

I will work to earn your trust and your vote on Tuesday, November 4th. Please reach out to me with any questions, and I look forward to meeting you soon. It is going to take all of us, not only during this election season but everyday afterwards, to lift up everyone in District 7.

As your next city councilperson, Denzel is committed to:

  • Ensuring that all of our residents receive basic city services, and that our tax dollars and city resources address the needs of our district and residents. All of our residents, from youth to seniors, deserve a good quality of life and an accessible and accountable government.
  • Improving public safety by investing in preventative measures, community violence intervention programs and mental health services. We must address the root causes of harm and violence, along with ensuring our communities are well-resourced.

  • Fighting for truly affordable and accessible housing, increasing home ownership, advocating for residents’ rights, and pushing back against those who try to take advantage of homeowners and tenants.
  • Advocating for an equitable public transit system so that residents can work, play, and learn without worrying about how they will get around the city and the surrounding areas.
  • Strengthening our climate-resilient infrastructure and taking bold action to combat flooding and climate change damage by partnering with advocates and officials on all levels of government. Pushing for environmental justice and the right to clean air and affordable drinking water to be a reality for every resident.
  • Creating a dedicated office for senior services and resources. Pushing for more funding for after-school, recreation, and mentorship programs for our youth.
  • Centering skill trades and vocational training programs in the district to bring well-paying jobs and opportunities to our neighborhoods.
